WARNING body horror, eye squick

This is game canon; what happened to Jack after his first round with the vines, after they thought they had all been removed. It's because I'm greedy for gross things and wanted more shit to happen. I ended up not doing quite as much as I was going to.

WARNING for vines crawling around inside a body and eye squick.

It had taken a lot of courage and a lot of talking to himself before Jack went back into his bedroom. It had taken even more to sleep in his bed, and first he had to clear out all the vines and then wait until he simply passed out before it really happened. When he woke up several hours later and realized where he was, his heart started thumping hard in his chest, but a frantic search of his person found that he was vine free.

Sighing in relief, Jack sunk back against his pillows. It was all over, things could go back to… relative normality.

His stomach cramped.

Jack’s eyes opened again. Oh man, now what? Was he getting sick? A stomach virus on top of all the current unpleasantness, just great.

Calm down, Jack, he told himself, slowly swinging his feet out of bed. Don’t jump to the worst case. I should probably just… get some food, yeah, food would be good.

He rummaged around, but he was out of anything worth eating. There was some junk food, but just the thought of sugar made his stomach churn. He briefly considering calling Eike and asking him if he could make something again, but instinctively knew that talking to Eike could mean talking about what had happened earlier in the night. And that was the last thing he wanted to do; he would rather forget it happened.

So, reluctantly, he headed for the grocery to pick up some food. He walked briskly and tried to keep his mind off the cramps, but they just kept getting more and more painful.

He was about halfway between his dorm and the mall when the worst cramp yet hit him, so hard he doubled over and eventually knelt down, trying to relieve the pressure. Maybe he really was sick. Maybe he really should call Eike to come find him.

It was strange, though. He didn’t feel like he had to throw up. He felt more like there was something in his stomach that was trying to get out… slowly, slowly making its way through his stomach lining and up through his body, moving with a slither like some kind of-

No.

Oh God, oh God, please, no.

Jack let out a small whimper as he felt the vine crawl up past his ribs. No, no, how could this be happening? The vines were supposed to be gone, they were supposed to be GONE-

Jack didn’t even notice his own voice was screaming those words. He was too focused on the horrible, wrenching pain in his stomach and that slow, slithering feeling as the plant made its way up into his esophagus.

His screams were cut off quickly with a sickening gurgle, as the vine got into his throat. Maybe, maybe he would just suffocate quickly and it would all be over… but no, his windpipe was still intact, sucking down air in raspy breaths, leaving Jack unable to make any noise for help other than a pathetic whimpering.

The vine slowly made its slithering way up to Jack’s mouth. Soon even his whimpers were silenced, only the rasps of his breath left. He craned his eyes down and watched as horror as the vine poked out of his mouth. He couldn’t even cry, he was too consumed by terror. His insides felt like they were on fire, because though he didn’t know it, stomach acid and blood was getting in places it shouldn’t be.

But the vine wasn’t done yet. Snaking around his mouth, it then moved up near his cheek. And then higher. Up into his head.

Jack shot to his feet. He didn’t know why, but he did.

The vine was behind his eye.

Somehow, Jack managed to scream.

And he started running.

He could feel it, right behind his eye, trying to poke it out. It had already damaged it, the vision in that side dimming and making Jack even more disoriented. He kept running, as though going fast enough would be enough to escape the nightmare he was currently in.

The vine poked all the way through, Jack’s eye dangling out of his head.

He didn’t see the wall coming.

He was dead before he hit the ground.
